How often should an explosion-proof pressure cooker be maintained?

Maintenance of an explosion-proof pressure cooker includes daily cleaning, sealing checks, maintenance of key components, and regular replacement of easily worn parts. It is recommended to clean immediately after each use, replace the sealing ring every 9-12 months, and check components such as the safety valve monthly.

To ensure safety and stable performance, specific maintenance measures and cycles are as follows:

Daily Cleaning (After Each Use): Immediately unplug the power cord (for electric pressure cookers) after use and allow it to cool before disassembling the lid assembly. Pay special attention to cleaning the sealing ring, float valve, pressure relief valve, and vent. Use a soft brush dipped in warm water or white vinegar solution to remove residual oil. Clean the inner pot with a soft cloth and dry it thoroughly after use to prevent water stains from causing rust on metal parts.

Sealing Check (Weekly or Before Each Use): Check the sealing ring for deformation, hardening, or cracks. If air leakage is found around the edge of the pot or the lid does not fit tightly, adjust or replace it promptly. When installing, pay attention to the orientation, ensuring the protrusions face inward and are fully embedded in the groove. Simultaneously test whether the float valve can rise and fall freely, and whether the pressure relief valve springs up smoothly.

Safety Accessory Maintenance (Monthly)

Regularly calibrate the sensitivity of safety valves and pressure gauges (if applicable). A simple test can be performed: observe whether the steam emission is continuous and stable while boiling water. If intermittent steam emission, abnormal noise, or failure to build pressure occur, it may be due to valve blockage or spring failure, requiring immediate cleaning or repair.

Rust and Corrosion Prevention (Quarterly)

Wipe and maintain the outer surface of the pot, avoiding storage in humid environments. If minor rust spots are found, soak in warm water for 30 minutes and then gently brush them off with a soft brush. When not in use for a long period, it is recommended to remove the sealing ring and store it separately to prevent deformation or aging due to pressure.

Replacement Cycle for Wear Parts

Sealing Ring: The general service life is 9–12 months. For frequent use, it is recommended to replace it annually. For occasional use, the service life can be extended depending on the condition, but it should be replaced immediately if hardening or cracking is observed.

Pressure relief valve and safety valve: It is recommended to check them every 18–24 months. Replace with genuine parts if necessary. Do not use non-standard substitutes.

Use life of the entire pressure cooker: National standards recommend a safe use period of 5–8 years for pressure cookers. Using them beyond this period poses safety hazards and they should be replaced promptly.
